10 Ways To Send Me To Heebie-Jeebie Town

Day 83 of 365:

{One Word Prompt}

When I hear the word nerve, what I see is nerves.

Which makes me think: annoyance and agitation.

And believe me, there are lots of things in my world that annoy, agitate and get on my nerves.

Actually, I am more fond of the term “Heebie-Jeebies”.  It’s cuter and less abrasive, don’t you think?

So, I thought it would be best to turn this one-word writing prompt into a list, because you all know how much I like my lists!

10 Ways To Send Me Heebe-Jeebie Town:

  1. DO NOT sit at the same table with me, during a meal, and eat your food in a manner so that I can hear it being chewed.  (gah)
  2. Finding wet towels lying on the bathroom floor.  (YUCK – germies!)
  3. My dog slowly licking her lips at 3 am.  (please.stop.now)
  4. A slowly dripping tap, or, the sound of running water at 1 am, 2 am, and 4 am (killmenow)drip drip
  5. Do NOT incorrectly load the dishwasher in my presence.  EVER.  (yikes!)
  6. Not picking up your after your dog while taking him/her for a walk.  (Oh come on!  Seriously?)
  7. Facebook ranty-type posts riddled with spelling mistakes, poor grammar and improper (or down right abusive) use of punctuation.  (My eyes!  My brain!  It hurts!)
  8. Sounds that could possibly be made by a snake.  (Run away.  Run far, far, FAR away.)
  9. Witnessing the blatant misuse or misquoting of song lyrics, quotes from The Simpsons and one liners from movies.  (huh?)
  10. (this one may seem kinda weird) Cold air from an air conditioner blasting at my face.  (oh hellllllp – my eyeballs are being sucked dry!)

BONUS – 11th thing that will get on my nerves:

11. Telling me I can’t do something.  Believe me, I will prove that you are wrong. (Ha!  Take that!)

What sends you to Heebie-Jeebie Town?

Slow Down

Day 56 of 365:

{Writing Prompt}

Pace Oddity
If you could slow down an action that usually zooms by, or speed up an event that normally drags on, which would you choose, and why?

Those moments when I first get out bed.

I like getting up at 6am – it’s the best time of the day for me.  I make my coffee, I pause.  I reflect and gather my thoughts and my ready myself for the day ahead.  I feel calm.  I feel optimistic.  I feel energy and eager anticipation as I think about all the possibilities the next 16 hours, or so, will bring my way.

The house is quiet.  My mind if refreshed and my thoughts are clear.

If I could slow down time, or freeze the frame of these early morning moments, I would.  Oh, how I would stay in this place for as long as I could.

And it would feel divine.

= Sunday Morning

Sure, I’ll Do It.

Day 35 of 365:

{Writing Prompt}

Are you comfortable in front of people, or does the idea of public speaking make you want to hide in the bathroom? Why?

Sure I’ll get up and speak in front of a crowd.  Why not?

I think life should be about stepping out of your comfort zone and surprising yourself.  If you have a voice and something to say, why hide it away?

This coming from a self-described “Introverted Extrovert” – meaning I have  no problem with getting up in front of a crowd.  Making a fool of myself is of little concern, in the right setting.  I don’t even have to be even mildly intoxicated to do so.  Seriously.  Just ask my mom.  But, that’s the extrovert in me.

The introvert part of me likes to lock herself away and not answer the door or the phone for fear of having to deal with people.  I will do this for days at a time and be totally content.

I know, I know.  I’m fickle.

My point is this: life is short, right?

So be goofy.  Dance on a table, if the time is right.  Give a wild speech to a room full of strangers.  Sing your little heart out at a karaoke bar.  Even if it scares you a little.  I for one, like to scare myself every once and while.  It makes me feel alive.

And if you want to shut the door and not be seen, then fine.  But for goodness sake, don’t stay inside forever.
