I was also going to title this post “Rooting For The Little Guy”.
I do tend to cheer for the underdog. I easily identify with those that seem small and out of place. What does that say about me? I guess it says I can relate to what that feels like.
Realistically speaking, I don’t know that this little tree sprout has much of a chance for growth, having rooted in the top of a rock. It seemed to be coming up out of a small depression in the rock’s moss covered surface. I guess it depends on how deep those determined little roots can dig.
Well, if this little guy is going to try, someone has to take notice, right?
This got me thinking about how being small and out of place can really set you apart from the rest of the crowd….or, the rest of the saplings in the forest, as the case may be.
Further to being out of place, who says you have always be in place? Just because all of the other trees around you are in the ground, doesn’t mean you can’t ~ahem~ branch out and go against the grain. Maybe it ultimately will not work, but there are some things you just have to figure out for yourself. Even if it is the hard way.
Again, something I can relate to….how about you?
