Weely Photo Challenge: Solitary

Sometimes you find what you are looking for when you least expect it.

Up until about 20 minutes ago, I had no idea what to post for this week’s challenge theme…other than an image depicting my subject matter in solitude.

So, I am sitting at the dining room table pondering and brain-storming.  I look down to my right, and there I see it:  A single, solitary butter knife, obviously overlooked by whoever cleared the table after our last family meal.

lone knife.

It seems to me that when you have a knife it is usually surrounded by other pieces of cutlery, all lined up and ready for dinner.  Or all together in the cutlery drawer.  Never out, alone and unaccompanied by, at the very least, a fork.

There you have it, my solitary offering.

  1. Nice – it reminds me of a comedy bit that Jay Leno did decades ago. He says he saw a single spoon for sale at a garage sale and thought, “What horrible thing happened to this spoon to make the owners sell it like that.”

    Thanks for sharing.
