Weekly Photo Challenge: Near And Far

Near and Far:

(my toes and my dog)

I have only two things to say about this week’s Word Press photo Challenge theme:

– It reminded me of an assignment we were given in my first year of college.  We were told to go out and shoot three people, lined up in a staggered formation, facing the camera.  We had to take three photographs in total, each at different aperture settings to depict variations in depth of field.  At the time, I thought it was the most boring thing I’d ever had to photograph.   All these later, I still appreciate what that little exercise taught me on the power of depth of field.

– My submission is an image I took by accident:  my finger pressed down on the shutter release without me realising.  I love when that happens and I get a “half decent” image out of it!

  1. Wonderful shot! Made even more real by the fact that your nail polish is chipped… no really… it feels very honest, plus I don’t feel so alone in this world with my chipped polish! The issue with me is I go out wearing sandals all the time and I know more people care about my pedicure needs than I do! LOL 😉

    1. haha – Love it!! Someone with “pedicure-issues” as bad as mine. Honestly, it was an oopsie-photo that just happened to work for the challenge theme…ugly toes and all…. 🙂

  2. This might be weird..but this morning I painted my nails a color that looks the same as that. It was early, and then I noticed the color was named “Rise and Shine”. Which is odd, since it’s more of a matte and not a shiny color. Now it’s even more odd because you seem to have used a quite similar color and I thought it was a strange color that nobody would really like. I’m glad someone else does!
    I love the picture!
